Monica Kaup Cary

B.A., Government/Women’s Studies, Franklin & Marshall College

J.D., Northwestern School of Law, Lewis & Clark College

Monica Kaup Cary joined the firm in 2004. She has a strong commitment to families and is no novice to change. She has lived in the Midwest and on the East Coast, and now calls Seattle home. Prior to attending law school, Monica volunteered with VISTA (the domestic peace corps), and was assigned to work in Seattle with FamilyWorks where she helped create an Employment Resource Center for customers of the Fremont Food Bank. Other responsibilities there included offering free workshops for adults on topics from cooking to intercultural parenting and recruiting volunteers to lead free workshops for children.

After graduating from law school and joining the Oregon Bar, Monica was a judicial clerk to the Honorable Elizabeth Welch, Presiding Family Court Judge in Portland, Oregon. Returning to Seattle in 2002, she volunteered with the King County Prosecutor's office and then worked as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Pierce County, Washington. Through these experiences, Monica learned compassion for people in crisis and gained insight into the plight of families in the courtroom. After a few years in the trenches, she decided to return her focus to working directly with families.

Monica recognizes the loss of a marriage impacts nearly every aspect of life: emotional, financial, physical, social and spiritual. She also believes any time of great change is an opportunity to grow and learn. Her goal is to help clients feel stronger and more secure when they leave her office than when they walked in.

Monica's family law experience includes arguing family law motions in King and Snohomish Counties, advising clients in mediation and settlement situations, and all aspects of trial work. She serves as Secretary of the Board of the South Asian Bar Association of Washington. Recently, Monica co-authored an article in the Washington State Bar journal. Her volunteer efforts include work with Seattle University's Access to Justice Institute, King County Bar Association's Self Help Plus & Kinship Care Solutions programs, and the Volunteer Advocates for Immigrant Justice. She is a member of Chaya (a local South Asian domestic violence prevention organization), the King County Bar Association, and the Washington State Bar Association, family law section.

In her free time, Monica enjoys playing her guitar, cooking, traveling and spending time with her husband, her cattle dog and the family cat.

Attorney Lucia Ramirez Levias

J.D., Cum laude - Seattle University School of Law

Lucia joined the firm in April, 2008, and comes with an extensive background in working with families and children around the Puget Sound. Family law is a natural fit for Lucia's professional and personal background. She was the youngest of five children in a family impacted by divorce. Her father was the first man in his home state to win full-custody of his children. Lucia knows first hand the effect that divorce can have on the lives of children and parents. She also recognizes that life transitions can be positive when supported by the guidance of a caring professional.

Before going to law school, Lucia worked as a youth development director at the YMCA of Greater Seattle. There, she developed cutting edge programs to serve the needs of teenagers and their families in the community. Many of the children in these programs suffered from low self-esteem, negative body image, and some came from violent or abusive homes. Lucia worked with both the families and the children with compassion in an effort to inspire hope for their future and to challenge them to reach their highest potential.

Lucia aspires to reach her client's goals by listening, analyzing, and advocating. She enjoys complex analysis and problem solving. She has experience as a litigator in criminal court, immigration court, and family court. Her legal analysis of complex issues has been included in amicus briefings to the Washington Supreme Court and in briefs to the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th District. She is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and the American Immigration Law Association.

Lucia is an active volunteer in the Seattle area. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Reel Grrls, an organization that empowers young women from diverse communities to realize their power, talent and influence through media production. She and her husband serve as volunteer facilitators for the Program for Early Parent Support (PEPS). She also volunteers for the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project providing free legal services to low-income immigrants.

When she's not working, you may run into Lucia at the Children's museum or the Zoo with her husband and toddler son. In addition to raising her son, she is also raising two teenage cats: Ginseng and Lola. Lucia speaks Spanish and travels regularly to her ancestral country, Peru.

Paralegal Anna MacInnes

A.A. - Highline Community College

Paralegal Corey A. Bondurant

B.A., History - Western Washington University

Corey Bondurant was raised on the Olympic Peninsula and graduated from Chimacum High School. After high school, Corey attended Western Washington University, where he received his B.A. in History (with emphasis in Africa) and minors in English and Music Performance. A life-long drummer, during college and upon graduation, he played drums professionally in many local and international acts as both a touring and recording drummer. However, his love for the Puget Sound area brought him home to Seattle.

After deciding against law school and his career as a musician, Corey opted to pursue his love of the legal field as a paralegal - first handling personal injury and medical malpractice cases. Finally, he found his niche as a family law paralegal, and has held this position since 1998.

Corey is a self-proclaimed "drum nerd." He collects drum memorabilia and spends much of his free time attending concerts and clinics, playing drums, teaching drums, or thinking/talking drums! His other interests include spending time with his girlfriend, playing tennis, swimming, reading, and attending Mariner or Dodger baseball games. His true love, along with his family and friends, is his adorable English Bulldog, Molly.
